5. SALVATION FROM SIN
HOW AND WHEN SIN BEGAN.
1. Ezekiel 28:14-18: Highest angel in heaven chooses self-exaltation; sin begins.
2. Isaiah 14:12-14: Pride leads to Lucifer's fall.
3. Revelation 12:7-9: Lucifer goes to war against God and is cast out of heaven.
THE FIRST MAN AND WOMAN FALL INTO SIN.
4. Genesis 2:15-17: God tests Adam and Eve; states the penalty for failing.
5. Genesis 3:6: Tragically, Adam and Eve fail the test and sin.
6. Genesis 3:19: God restates the penalty for choosing sin and self.
SINCE ADAM, ALL ARE SINNERS UNDER THE PENALTY OF DEATH.
7. Romans 3:23: All have sinned and come short of God's perfect ideal.
8. Romans 5:12-14: Death penalty falls also on all Adam's descendants.
9. Romans 6:23: The wages, or penalty, of sin, is death.
GOD'S PLAN TO SAVE US (HIS PART).
10. John 3:1-17: God sent His Son Jesus to die in our place.
11. Romans 5:8: Christ did die for us as our Substitute.
12. 1 Corinthians 15:22: Death through Adam, but life through Christ.
HOW WE RECEIVE SALVATION (OUR PART).
13. John 1:12: We receive Jesus as our Savior, by faith.
14. Ephesians 2:8-9: Salvation is a free gift, which we can not earn by "being good."
15. 1 John 5:11-13: When by faith we believe in Jesus, we have eternal life.
16. Revelation 3:20: By faith, we invite Jesus into our Heart as Savior.
6. FAITH
WHAT FAITH IS AND WHY WE NEED IT.
1. Hebrews 11:1: Believing and trusting in what we don't yet see.
2. Hebrews 11:6: More specifically, believing in Jesus and trusting Him.
3. Habakkuk 2:4: The righteous live by faith.
WHERE FAITH COMES FROM.
4. Romans 12:3: God gives a measure of faith to each of us.
5. Matthew 17:20: Even faith as small as a mustard see is powerful.
6. Romans 10:17: Faith comes from hearing God speak to us in His Word.
7. Luke 17:5: We can pray and ask God to increase our faith.
8. Mark 9:24: Faith and doubt can exist together.
WHAT FAITH CAN DO.
9. Acts 16:31: Faith is necessary to receive God's salvation.
10. Romans 5:1: We are justified (pardoned and set right with God) by faith.
11. Acts 26:18: We are also sanctified (given power to be like Jesus) by faith.
12. John 1:12: We receive Jesus into our lives and become God's children by faith.
13. Hebrews 4:2: Without faith, God's Word does us no good.
14. James 2:14-26: Real faith shows itself in good works.
15. Hebrews 11:3: We believe in Creation by faith.
7. GOD'S LAW
GOD'S LAW BEFORE MOUNT SINAI.
1. Genesis 26:5 Abraham kept the commandments before Sinai.
2. Exodus 1:24-30: The Sabbath commandment before Sinai.
3. Psalm 111:7-9: God's law is eternal.
4. Romans 5:12-14: Paul shows the law existed from Eden.
GOD'S TEN-COMMANDMENT LAW.
5. Exodus 20:3-17: The law as God gave it at Mt. Sinai.
6. Romans 3:20: The law points out sin.
7. James 4:17: Knowing to do right and not doing it is sin.
8. 1 John 3:4: Sin is transgressing of the law.
THE LAW IN OUR EVERYDAY LIFE.
9. Deuteronomy 28:1-2: Blessings of obeying God's law.
10. Psalm 19:7-11: Psalmist describes God's law as perfect and wonderful.
11. Jeremiah 31:31-33: God's new covenant: His law inside us, in our minds and hearts.

JESUS AND THE LAW.
